Track: The Remixes Part II Artist: Drumsound & Bassline Smith Label: Technique Cat No: TECH033 |
Hot on the heels of the first instalment comes the Remixes Part 2. This time label bosses Drumsound & Bassline Smith revisit one of their own productions, while inviting the darkside soldier Loxy to give the Hardware treatment to Dragon Fly.
Drumsound & Bassline have come a long way since they first dropped Underworld on Technique and they waste no time in beefing up the original into a disgusting dancefloor bomb. The instantly recognisable vox “you just f*cked up the whole party you idiot” is used among the bulging bassline pressure. Don’t sleep on this one.
On the flips its showtime for Loxy who takes Dragon Fly and moulds it into a mid-90’s Metalheadz piece complete with lashing of amen edits and super synth. The breakdown is unmistakably Loxy and it drops into a braindrain stepper that moves with a militant edge. Ruff!

Track: THE REMIXES PART 1 - PALOMINO RMX / TYRANT RMX Artist: SILVER / NIGHTWALKER - Label: TECHNIQUE RECORDINGS Cat No: TECH32 |
It’s time for Technique to revisit some of its finest moments.
First up one of Manchester’s Accidental Heroes, now based on the west coast of USA gives the remix treatment to Palomino. Now those of you who know your history will realise that the original Palomino on Absolute 2 surfaced over 13 years ago! Silver remains faithful to the original managing to retain that rare thing in electronic music – emotion. He drops a rock-steady bassline alongside urgent drums and breathes new life into what is undoubtedly a timeless track.
Next up the emerging talent that is Nightwalker makes his debut on Technique. Having made a stir on DJ Hype’s Ganja Records, Nightwalker goes to work on Tyrant taking no prisoners and dropping pure nasty vibes on plastic. One for the jump-up massive!
In stock now in the drum & bass promos section for a limited time only.

Track: BLOODENING / GAMERA feat Rregula Artist: PHETSTA - TECHNIQUE RECORDINGS - TECH031 Label: Cat No: |
Rarely has there been so much excitement surrounding a new signing to a drum and bass label as with this stunning debut from Australia’s Phetsta.
Drumsound & Bassline Smith show that when it comes to unearthing new talent and having an ear for a tune they’ve got both in spades.
First up the mysterious cinematic intro of Bloodening sounds like it wouldn’t be out of place in a sci-fi horror movie. The atmosphere is ruptured severely by the seismic bassline and the drop is all about IMPACT! POW! Naturally this has been going right off on the world’s dancefloor’s from Sheffield to Sydney and back again.
The flip Gamera again contains the widescreen vibe and builds into an epic sounding beast. Nothing cam prepare you for what ensues though as Phetsta drops a furious bassline workout.
Comparisons to fellow Australian’s Pendulum are inevitable yet Phetsta’s already carved out his own sound that can stand toe-to-toe with any of the scene’s leading producers.

Track: A – Strength To Strength / B - Crystal Maze Artist: Futurebound & Matrix Label: Cat No: |
VIPER AND METRO PRESENT:
A – Strength To Strength
B - Crystal Maze
MTRR/VR001 - Released September 2005
While Matrix has been back in action with remixes of Nu-Tone and Noisia, Futurebound has been preparing for a hectic release schedule after a reasonably quiet eight months. Both teamed up recently for an impromptu session and circulated the tracks amongst their peers whose reaction was so good this joint 12 is being released.
‘Strength To Strength’ opens with vocal stabs, jazz filled synth lines and funky guitar loops. An unbelievably rock solid drum kit, characteristic of excellent production, enters the fray as a deep modulated bass line slips in and signals the build for a disco-fied mother of a Drum ‘n’ Bass funker.
‘Crystal Maze’ enters with twinkling keys and futuresque effects sweeping through the mix as a subtle snare roll introduces a heavy kit. As the anticipation builds to the drop a ‘feel good’ bassline provides enough energy to put a smile on the face of even the most serious junglist.
Watch out for Viper’s ‘Circuit Breakers’ CD compilation (featuring J Majik and Wickaman, Moving Fusion, Total Science and more) and tour, and forthcoming singles by Teebee and Sonic on Metro
